In 2018 CVG Airport announced a brand new airline would be starting service nonstop from CVG Airport to Iceland - WOW Airlines.

Almost totally unknown by the average traveler, it was the Communication Team’s job to educate our community on what this airline truly meant: the ability to travel internationally on a previously unobtainable budget. WOW would enable people to go overseas who had never been able to afford it before.

We celebrated with a blow out inaugural event on-site, complete with ribbon-cutting, cakes and cake pops that I proudly designed, as well as balloons and a DJ. Every traveler received an international plug adapter branded with CVG’s logo.

We also lit an iconic “Cincinnati” sign on the side of the Duke Energy Convention Center (located in downtown Cincinnati) purple for the weekend - signifying WOW’s entry into our region in a big way.

While this airline no longer exists, we went above and beyond to market a totally new product to our region and made it a household name through social media and traditional media pushes.
